Hunkydory Lady in Red

Some Hunkydory kits look more enticing than others, and when I first looked at the packet for these Lady in Red luxury cards I wasn't too sure how they were going to turn out.

I needn't have worried.

These kits are gorgeous. I say it every time, but the quality of Hunkydory kits is astounding. The silk cardstock is thick and glossy, and the cards are all pre-scored so they're easy to fold.  

The silver foil edging is really hard to photograph, but trust me - it looks fabulous. And I think these illustrations are really beautiful. (I love red shoes.) 

These are the pyramage cards, with four layers to each image. There are four designs in the pack.

But wait!

I know it was late at night when I was putting these together, but I thought that was pretty clever.

The same four designs are repeated, and this time instead of the stepped card, you get a box and frame to put these in. Each box has a foldout piece on the back so it will stand upright, and a hook so you could even hang it on the wall.

I just love these cards, I think they're quite beautiful. After all the sweetness and light of Christmas, these monochrome cards with a splash of red look stunning.

Hunkydory domed flower cards

Aren't they beautiful? These cards are lovely, I think they'd make a beautiful centrepiece. The decoupage is all made of the same 300gsm silk-art card and so the flowers look really 'full'. These cards just use the standard items in the kit, but you could add extra butterflies or flowers, and I'm dying to make some as proper 'shaker cards' with lots of glitter. Fabulous!

A new perspective - To the Manor Born Tunnel Cards

These tunnel cards follow the same kind of design as the Glimpse of Glamour cards, but with an added dimension - quite literally.

You get a set of figures in a range of sizes, so you can arrange them within the scene to create some really incredible perspective. The background papers also have a sharp vanishing point so you can really see the depth in the scene.

It takes some planning, as you need to think about which figures go where for the best effect. Once you've done one, you can soon see how it's supposed to work and then it's up to you to create these charming silhouette scenes.

Hunkydory Glimpse of Glamour cards

The newest offering from Hunkydory is these Glimpse of Glamour expanding tunnel cards.

They use a cleverly folded side panel and sheets of acetate to create a layered image with amazing depth.

They are 8x8 in size and look both complicated and expensive. They're neither. It's just £2.49 for a kit which contains everything you need to make two cards. And although they look difficult, they are pretty simple to make really. There's an instruction sheet in each pack. I was going to do a step-by-step tutorial but there were so many photos I ended up turning it into a little slideshow for you:

I quite enjoyed making this, but I have already seen lots of things I would like to improve! This is very much a first attempt at a slideshow tutorial, so please be kind. If you have any suggestions for future tutorials then I would love to hear them!

There are two scenes in each pack and each one is a little scene of luxury. Like all the Hunkydory kits they are made of great quality cardstock with well-made die cut images.

Cards to treasure

It's no secret that I think Hunkydory card kits are great. The quality of the cards and die-cut decoupage is excellent, and they are so easy to put together.

They're also great value - these Treasured Moments kits are just £4.99 for a kit that makes four complete cards, and the Treasured Moments Companion Collection is just £6.99 and can make up to 12 cards.

I love seeing people's faces when you give them a card you've made yourself. And when it's this easy, everyone can have one!

It's all hunkydory

These new card making kits from Hunkydory are fabulous. I'll admit that they're not my usual style, so when Mum asked me to have a go at making some samples I was dubious to say the least. But, I'll try anything once - so I took the kit home, and am I ever glad I did!

The kit comes with enough cardstock to make at least 8 cards, including 4 A5 size. By adding extra card blanks from my own stash I was able to make more than double that, and I even added some tags using the leftovers. The quality is amazing - the cardstock is thick and glossy, the die cuts are beautiful and the gold finish makes them look truly luxe. These are quality cards and even better - they are super-quick to put together. You'd never guess that I made most of my cards in one evening, would you?

And some close-ups of the details. I couldn't resist adding even more glitz with some Stickles glitter glue.

The die cuts include single butterflies, and two sets of pyramid decoupage:
